Online Training

Strength training and Pilates share some similarities however they are primarily underpinned by a different set of principles.

These principles can be strategically inter-meshed to achieve specific, well reasoned strength outcomes for each client.

In this online workshop, I will provide the science, reasoning, strategies and repertoire applications to have Pilates, fitness and movement teachers able to easily implement real strength training within Pilates programming, and to understand and utilise Pilates concepts and principles integrated with a strength approach.

Useful for any movement or fitness teacher who works across modalities, this course provides a next level of understanding of how to  increase strength for clients.

This workshop has been presented in its face-to-face format since 2021 nationally as a comprehensive and current approach to strength training in the Pilates environment. Now, it’s available online with six months access for participants to be able to review and reference for the extended time.

Online any time, with 6 months access from the time of enrolment to complete as well as revsisit and review any content.

What will you get out of it

Developed to provide a deeper understanding of strength techniques that can be applied when working with the Pilates method, you will learn how to efficiently build strength, with better mobility and end-of-range specific strengthening that can be applied to a multitude of functions, from sports/arts specific conditioning to daily life needs – for example, picking up that heavy storage box from the top shelf of the cupboard, or carrying children.

This course provides specific science-based learning on:

  • The benefits of strength specific training
  • How the body builds strength and its response and adaptiveness to environmental stimuli
  • Overload and Specificity principles of training
  • Muscle contraction types and the nature of muscular force through each moment of contraction
  • Flexibility vs mobility
  • Strategies, applications and exercises of the Pilates method
  • Programming strategies in the Pilates environment

You will complete this course with an understanding of breaking down and applying strength building techniques within the Pilates method and how to apply these to client specific, identified and chosen goals.
