What it is

A way to bring the South Island Pilates community together with continuing education and increasing the amount of professional development available from non-local presenters to the South Island of New Zealand.

In-person learning has a much-understated value in the Pilates industry with so many offerings online, yet we are mainly a face-to-face service industry and therefore certain skill sets are better nurtured in the flesh.

This industry grows stronger as a community and to share our knowledge together only elevates us even further. And this is exactly what we envision at the Pilates weekend.

Knowing the Neck is an in-depth workshop designed to deepen understanding of the cervical spine and its impact on posture, movement efficiency, and muscular recruitment throughout the body.

This session explores foundational cervical anatomy and focuses on developing articular control, improving mobility and building strength in the neck. While examining how these qualities influence alignment and movement patterns across the entire body.

Sunday November 9th

Shoulder Savvy workshop – 9am

Shoulder Savvy is a practical and educational workshop designed to deepen understanding of shoulder mechanics and motion, while building assessment and programming skills for Pilates professionals.

Participants will learn how to observe and interpret shoulder function, then apply targeted strategies to improve mobility, stability, and strength using the Pilates method. The workshop covers when and how to implement specific techniques, with the goal of building confident, adaptable teaching strategies for working with diverse client needs.

Ben draws on his experience with clients, his training in the Pilates method, insights from current research, and principles from Functional Range Systems to deliver an integrated, evidence-informed approach.
